Berlin UMBRELLA at StANZA 2020

Berlin UMBRELLA is a poetry sound walk by the poet Stephanie Green and the sound artist Sonja Heyer, presented at StANZA, Scotlands International Poetry Festival 2020. Take an umbrella on a self-directed walk — by opening the umbrella you can listen to an immersive soundscape of poetry and sound art. The mobile installation explores Berlin’s water, both visible and hidden, the sources of the river Spree, its ecology, folklore and history through many voices, including that of the river itself, from glacial times, through Nazi atrocities and Cold War tragedies to the Fall of the Wall and contemporary issues.
